The Hounds Get A Hold of William Lustig

Horrorhound is a magazine that has put out quality reviews and articles since late 2005.  As the popularity and notoriety of the publication grew… so did its sights in reaching new heights within the horror community.  With that goal, “Horrorhound Weekend” was born.  What began as a little convention in the summer of 2007, has now turned into a huge event that is put on twice a year by the magazine.  The next “Weekend” will be held in Cincinnati, November 12-14.  With an already impressive line-up of horror icons from both past and present,  Horrorhound grabbed another guest that will sure to please the hounds: William Lustig!  Continue reading for more info on the event.

Known for directing such cult films as Maniac, Vigilante, Uncle Sam, and the Maniac Cop trilogy, William Lustig is a guest that will please many fans that will be attending the three day festival.  Recently, the director is more known for releasing lost and forgotten horror classics with his DVD distribution company, Blue Underground.  As if having the director attend wasn’t enough (he rarely attends conventions), fans will be able to acquire his autograph for free!  For Saturday only, Lustig will be signing autographs for free and hosting a screening of Maniac, complete with a Q & A  following the film.  Other popular guests that you can meet at the convention include Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange), Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), Linda Blair (The Exorcist), Julian Sands (Arachnophobia) and many more.  With new guest announcements made almost every week, Horrorhound Weekend” seems to have someone to please both horror fans old and new.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
