Geek Out: Rock Out to this Metal Cover of Elfman’s ‘BATMAN’ Theme

dsc_3723

GEEK OUT is a new type of post here at Destroy the Brain. Whether it be collectibles or just random stuff that reminds us of or pays tribute to a film, GEEK OUT will feature these types of things that we can…well, geek out on.

I’ve heard songs that will melt your face.  I’ve witnessed things that give me a geek boner.  Never though have I ever had my face melted while simultaneously maintaining a throbbing geek boner.  Be warned: the below video will do this.  Outside of being an all-around Batman fan, I have a personal fondness for Danny Elfman’s aggressive and soaring theme from Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman.  If you didn’t think that his score could get any better, think again.  Artificial Fear has put together a cover of Danny Elfman’s Batman theme by way of guitar-shredding.  This packs as much of a punch as the “POW!” “BANG!” “KAPOW!” graphics from the comics.  Listen for yourself below.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. The battle between these two worlds has finally ceased with his current position as Managing Editor for DestroyTheBrain.com. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
