JUST SAY NO TO WHOREOWEEN! – HALLOWEEN COSTUMES FOR CHICKS WITH AN ATTITUDE

Girls, aren’t you sick of the annual tradition of Halloween’s arrival, and the endless parade of half-dressed women? Slutty nurse, a loose looking Zombie in fishnets and heels, hell, even Lumpy Space Princess has become a sexy costume for Halloween. Each to their own aside, I want to make it clear – I’m no jealous hater. I just like wearing pants and covering my boobs with more than a bloody band-aid when I’m in public.

Since I know I’m not alone, I thought I’d throw out a few ideas for you ladies that might be struggling to come up with a costume that says you like scary shit, but don’t want to look like a slut. And before you say anything about our pant-less sister to the left, I’m really just here to pimp out the grungy Freddy Krueger sweater she’s modeling, which retails for about $50. It’s a nice reminder that dressing up like Freddy Krueger isn’t just for the boys. I’d also bag the fishnets (enough already with the fishnets on Halloween ladies), and wear it with some cool leggings instead. And not the boring black ones I see way too many girls wearing in lieu of actual pants these days.

If you’re not aware of Aussie clothier Black Milk, be prepared to get hip to the brand’s designs that have been cranking out clothes with a horrifying edge for some time now. Like these Sketches of a Mad Man leggings, pictured above. Some of Black Milk’s designs are so in demand, that they are only made available for a few days. Such was the case with the Mad Man leggings. Thankfully, Black Milk really knows their customer base, and is constantly coming up with more horror inspired designs. I know I might sound like a ghoul (and while I can assure you that I am), I’d absolutely sport these super detailed leggings all the time.

It wouldn’t be Halloween without our good pal, Jason Voorhees, star of a movie, and owner of an image synonymous with the scariest night of the year. Naturally, there are many “sexy” versions of Jason, like this one, that is actually nothing more than a spandex jumpsuit that doesn’t even try to look like our favorite un-killable slasher. And I must be honest, I hate masks. They start out as a good idea, and end up sitting on a table somewhere after you spend an hour sweating like a marathon runner, wishing you had just stayed home.

What I do love is the Friday the 13th hockey jersey above, emblazoned with the #13 on the back. Sure it’s made for a guy, but I still dig it and it’s easy to pull off. It also comes in a “Miss Voorhees“, sweater girl version.

I’m not always a fan of the matchy-matchy look, but you could pair the sweater or jersey with these sick Jason leggings below, also from Black Milk.

Me? I’d just wear these bad-ass leggings alone and pair them with some tough boots and a plain black top – letting the leggings be the center of attention. Of course if you are a matchy-matchy kind of monster lover, you can complete your severed head-to-toe look with these Friday the 13th custom kicks.

These Jason Voorhees custom made heels by Macklins Murals will run you a cool $125. They might be an investment piece, but I think these peep-toe pumps are also fit to be displayed alongside your other groovy horror collectables. If you’re more of a sneaker chick like me, for a price, Mizzee Customs will whip up a pair of tricked out Friday the 13th Nike’s for you.

I’m a huge fan of DIY everything. Especially when it comes to clothing. And so is Kitty Vamp Designs. Kitty Vamp has a sweet line of horror movie tee-shirt dresses that include feminine detailing, like this Texas Chainsaw number with a lace neckline for $54.99. But since I don’t usually get all dolled up on Halloween, I’d suggest pairing it with a pair of Blood Splatter leggings to push your “I Leatherface” look over the top.

You might not wear these serial-killer worthy leggings more than once a year, but I guarantee you will wear them year after year. The ones above are from Black Milk, but similar ones can be had for 1/2 the price elsewhere.

Like many girls, there is a side of me that does enjoy getting dressed up to kill. And with all the money that people spend on their Halloween costumes, why not update your closet with a classic? I adore vintage horror, and this Rockabilly style dress from Vintage Galleria is not only a quintessential cut, it’s also an homage to some of the greatest horror movie characters of all time. And for $69.50, it’s a total knock out.

Can’t get enough of the leggings I featured in this post? Then check out these Zombie leggings by Killer Kitty. $76 bucks might be a bit much to spend on leggings, but you could easily wear these anytime, and give your everyday outfit and edge. Not a big Zombie fan (really?)? Killer Kitty also makes leggings with black and white print images from The Omen and Frankenstein.

Lastly, earlier this year I featured a bunch of horror inspired swimsuits by Iron Fist on Destroy the Brain. And while I’ve been hip to their designs for a while, perhaps you aren’t and don’t also know that they make other wearables with a terrifying twist, like shoes.

From zombie creepers (pictured above) and heels, to flats and sky-high spikes with the iconic Misfits skull image on them, Iron Fist even has a Werewolf shoe. As I said earlier, if you’re going to spend some cash, why not spend it on something you’ll enjoy sporting on a regular basis. Besides, everyone knows that Zombies never go out of style. See them all here.

Well, that’s it, kids and killers! Now go out and spread the word that skin is out, and killer leggings, scary shoes, and sicko sweaters are where it’s at this Halloween. And next Halloween. And the one after that. And the one after that…
