‘In My Skin’ director starts shooting her new film ‘Dark Touch’ Next Month.

Some of you horror fans might remember a disturbing Cronenbergian film called In My Skin written, directed and acted by Marina de Van back from 2002. While she has visited our genre since with Don’t Look Back in 2009, I still haven’t had a chance to watch it. With two horror films under her belt, why not add a new one?

Cineuropa reports that she will begin a six week production schedule on her new film Dark Touch, a film which reminds me a bit of Quentin Dupieux’s Rubber. Check out the synopsis below:

Dark Touch opens one evening, in the middle of the countryside in an isolated house that comes to life, as if gripped by madness: objects and furniture fly into a rage against the inhabitants. Eleven-year-old Niamh is the only survivor of the bloody carnage caused by the furniture: her parents and her little brother are dead.

The police suspect a gang of killers and vandals and they ignore the account given by Niamh who reveals the murderous rage of the place and objects. She is temporarily taken in by Nat and Lucas, friends of her parents, who try hard to calm her trauma by surrounding her with love and organising a normal life and education for her with the help of the local social worker.

But Niamh doesn’t calm down, quite the contrary… Around her, the signs of danger continue to appear, and the place remains invested with a hidden violence, which will soon break out again and create fresh carnage, and more victims…

While it might sound batshit crazy to you, I’m up for anything this woman brings to the table. In My Skin is a very powerful and mind-scarring film that I think all of you should check out if you haven’t yet. We will keep you posted on the progress of Dark Touch as it progresses. The good news is Canal+ has already purchased Dark Touch while the company Wild Bunch will be handling international (including North America) distribution.
