Let the Games Begin! New ‘HUNGER GAMES’ Trailer Arrives

Humans hunting one another. Humans as sport.  These ideas have been portrayed in so many books and films before, such as The Most Dangerous Game and Battle Royale.  Yet, even with this previously explored plot working against it, the new trailer for The Hunger Games is still quite impressive and will convert new fans.  Many might be apprehensive about this film just because its adapted from a popular teen book series.  However, even though it looks to include a possible cheesy romance, these books (thankfully) seem to be a step in a different more adult direction compared to another popular teen book series.  The Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross (Seabiscuit, Pleasantville)  will enter theaters on March 23, 2012.  Compared to the initial teaser, this new trailer shows quite a lot of footage and introduces us to the futuristic world depicted in the film.  For action fans . . . you are going to have to wait till the next trailer, since this is light on the hunting portion.  Enjoy the new trailer below.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
